Healthfire is a specialist fire safety consultancy with a particular focus on delivering fire safety for hospitals and healthcare premises.

Established in 2005 Healthfire capitalises on our principal consultant's background in fire safety at the Department of Health.

Healthfire's main business activities lie in providing expert fire safety advice and support to the healthcare architects/designers and operators both in the public and private sectors.

Other specialist services include fire risk assessment, fire safety audit, fire safety training, the production of fire safety policies and procedures, fulfilment of Fire Safety Advisor (Authorised Person) and Authorising Engineer (Fire) roles.

Our Principal Consultant

Colin Newman B.Eng.(Hons), MSc., CEng. MIFireE

Colin is an experienced, Chartered Engineer having worked in fire safety for more than 30 years both in the private and public sectors.

He has extensive knowledge relating to the application of fire safety in the healthcare sector resulting from six years as the Principal Fire Consultant of NHS Estates and its trading arm Inventures.

In this role, Colin had responsibility for the fire safety policy of the Department of Health, and the production, technical authorship and strategic development of the Firecode suite of guidance.

In the dual role of NHS Estates technical advisor and specialist consultant, Colin has been uniquely placed to experience the fire safety design process both from the perspective of the NHS and that of the design team.

Colin currently acts as fire safety specialist technical advisor to NHSI and sits on the NHS Fire Working Group.

Colin has provided numerous Firecode training courses to design engineers, architects, building control and approved inspectors and local fire authority fire safety officers.

Colin has also lectured at the Fire Service College providing the input for the specialist healthcare module of the fire officers' fire safety training course.

Colin is a member of the Institution of Fire Engineers and the National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers.
